Starting Anew

It pains me

It hurts my heart

That they do not see you

That every image and depiction

Every time they say your name

Every reference to you

Is completely based on

And filled up with

A big heavy steamy ball full of

Lies.

That your beautiful essemce

Of freedom

Is positioned in such as way

As to be anything

Anything

Anything

But you.

And they do not know

That with each image

Accepted and declared

Cursing you

Embracing “others”

Brings them further and further away

From who they really are.

Our creative potential

Our freedom in you

Our heart’s desire

Our joy

Our strength

In this world

We have learned

To choose

Between

Less than

And

Slightly less than

It is time!

To throw the whole thing away

To watch it crumble

To stand amongst the rubble

As tall as we truly are

To stand with honor

To be

Sons and daughters

Priests and kings

Of the One Living

God

Can we really “start anew?”

Of course we can

If we only knew

And began to really live

Within God’s Creation

That breathes and births

Inside us all.
