Thanksgiving table poem

Tear at the Table

November 25, 2022

Tear at the table

To have everyone present

Happy, laughing

In this moment

Who knows what is to come

           For you

                 Or you

                 Or you

A year from now

                 Or a month

                  Or a week

                   Or a day

But now can we just say

That it is good?

It is so very very good!

The sweetness of smells from the kitchen

Of smiles from children

Of sitting together at a table set for ten

As fall light streams in from

Between the leaves

On shaky branches in the backyard.

Can we just say

That today is good?

Today is so very very good!
